more Client Journal information
- What does ClientJournal require?
- ClientJournal was developed and tested in an Apache-hosted (Linux)
environment with PHP 4.3.x and 4.4.x. It requires no database.
You need to be able to FTP to your site and to chmod (change
file and directory permissions).
- A little bit of experience with PHP scripts and knowledge of the
path to where your Journal will sit on your server would not be amiss.
However, it is pretty self-explanatory, and then there's always
the forum if you have questions.
- Has it been around for a while?
- I've been using it with my clients for a couple of years now. They
really seem to like it.
- I have this pathological hatred of your ochre gold brown colors.
- No problem. There is an easily-modified CSS file. Go wild.
- What if I have two persons at the client company to
communicate with?
- The Journal is set up to allow for one or two client contacts.
Everything works the same. Instead of sending one email when you,
the designer, posts—two are sent.
- How do I and the client know what they've uploaded?
- You'll receive email notice, plus an entry will be made in the
Journal, as usual, just like with a text post.
Plus, there is a list of all previously uploaded items
that appears on the page the client goes to to upload items.
- Is this a free script?
- I'm asking that you pay $5(US) at the time you download it.
If you think about the billable time
you will have saved in not having to search for even one email, I
hope you will agree it's worth it. That being said, it can be
downloaded without prepayment.
- How do I get into the forum area?
- The forum is only available to persons who've paid the $5(US).
In there, you can share ideas for enhancements, or ask
further questions.
- Are there any other benefits to paying?
- Beside that warm feeling that you did a Good Thing, I will
also email you when there are updates to the Journal.
- What if I want to pay after I downloaded free?
- Just return to the download page
and click to pay. You'll get the newest version of the
Journal plus you'll get registered for notifications of
upgrades and given access to the forum.
